New strike date – 21 June

(ii) Copy of UAL Co-comm message to all UCU members across the university
Dear UCU members at UAL
On behalf of the UCU Coordinating committee at UAL, following our last very successful day of action on 27 May, it is with dismay that I am writing to inform you all that UAL management have not yet offered to enter into substantive negotiations with UCU to resolve the current dispute.
We are therefore calling a second day of action timed to coincide with the national UCU day of action on June 21st.
UCU Head Office has now approved this further Action at the UAL and this afternoon sent formal notification to the Rector and UAL management.
UCU CoCom are also looking into the possibility of calling an All-Members Meeting towards the end of next week to update all members on the situation and any progress in talks with management to avoid this second Day of Action
Timing, we know is difficult, but this is an important meeting given our determination to keep lines of negotiation open.
Please do all you can to attend.
We are also proposing a cross-university meeting for all ALs in late June/early July.
This is to provide an update on potential cuts in AL work for next academic year and inform all ALs of important changes: significant pay-rise plus substantial improvement in AL security of employment  due to come into effect from august 2010.

Best wishes
Ron Todd
