Message to members re Strike on Monday 21 June

Dear colleague

5 Days to the Next UAL STRIKE DAY, 21st June

On Behalf of The UAL UCU Coordinating Committee

Following managements slowness in entering productive talks with UCU to try to end the current dispute, UCU Coordinating Committee at the UAL have had to call a second day of Action on 21st June.

UCU Regional Official (Greg Barnett) tabled a willingness to UAL management back in March to meet management to discuss a resolution to the current dispute and has today written formally to UAL management to re-iterate this openness to talk to resolve the dispute.

Unless management enter productive talks to resolve this dispute now, UCU at UAL will have no option but to enter the new academic year in dispute and with the prospect of further industrial action as mandated by members in the ballot  –  None of us want this

This 2nd Day of Action is most important in our resolve to encourage management to see reason and enter substantive negotiations to resolve this dispute.

It is important that members support this Day of Action and that we all work to make it even more successful than the previous one

Picketing at Colleges on 21st June will be focused at the following sites:

LCF – High Holborn

LCC – Elephant & Castle

CCW – Chelsea College, Millbank

CSM – Southampton Row

Picketing will be from 8am to 12.30pm and all members are asked to support the picket at their workplace for as long as possible.

From 1pm, all members are asked to join a Rally at Chelsea College on the Parade Ground where a Picket Picnic is being organized by the Chelsea Branch following a similar event on 27th May at CSM. Take along your own refreshments and delicacies.

This one day strike at UAL coincides with the national ‘United for Education’ day of action; see for information on events and rallies across London on the 21st that UAL UCU members are encouraged to support – following UAL picket line duty of course!
